What Information do we collect?

When subscribed to our Service, our users have access to DearReal’s Platform and associated systems; we may process additional data items in this instance.  Please refer to our “Terms of Use” for further details.

  • Information You Give Us: We acquire and store the information you provide to DearReal’s Platform.  You can choose not to provide specific details, but then you may not be able to take advantage of all of our DearReal’s Platform features.

  • Additional Information: Like many other websites, we use “cookies” and other unique identifiers when your browser or device accesses DearReal’s Platform.  We do this by using cookies (see section 7 below).

We may use the information you provide us in several ways, for example,

  2. to provide you with the information and Services you ask for and honour any contract you have with us;

We have a legitimate interest in policing our community. Fraud and misbehaviour have no place on our Platform. The Platform combines Users’ feedback in each user account regarding misbehaviour.
We also have a legitimate interest in analysing anonymised data to improve our Platform.
Uploaded Pictures– add to your Account- display on your User Profile and other members Friends and Meet tab, you are visible to;- include in email messages to other members, you are visible to;- add to the Platform invitations onboarding process you initiate.We process this personal data because it is part of the Service you expect from us.
Through your app, You control who can see your User Profile, which pictures are displayed and who you invite.
Your geolocation and location– improve User recommendations;- display on your User Profile.We process this personal data because it is part of the Service you expect from us.
Your geolocation is not expressively shared through the app to other Users but used in our algorithm.
You can stop sharing your geolocation in your App settings.
Date of birth– to validate you are over the age of 18- keep your age accurate on your account and User Profile;- improve User recommendations;- encourage goodwill on that special date from the community that can see your profile.Our Service requires this personal data.
User messages– When a User raises a non-compliant or misconduct report, we may access messages; – respond to law enforcement requests.
The processing is necessary for us to comply with the law.
Our communications– tailor our messages to you;- Using anonymised information, We train and improve our service team.
We have a legitimate interest in training our staff optimally.
Phone and browser language and IP address– tailor our messages to you in the most frictionless possible way.We have a legitimate interest in offering an optimised Service.
Your Website/App usage– improve the user experience of our Platform;- provide you with better recommendations.We have a legitimate interest in offering an optimised Service.
E-mail delivery, open, rate and clicks– improve the relevance of our messages.We have a legitimate interest in offering an optimised Service.
Mobile Device address book– identify Users in your address book, add them to your Friend list, your and their app settings permitting; 
– store cryptographic hash values of the phone numbers and emails of your contacts who are not DearReal users, so we can quickly update your Friends if those contacts sign
-up to DearReal at a later date, your and their app settings permitting; 
– remove contacts from your Friends list if one of them no longer has an account.
– at your request, block phone numbers and emails of Users to prevent them from contacting you on DearReal;- build Users’ networks and recommendations.
Our Service requires this personal data.
You can activate and deactivate the feature from your app settings.
Gmail email addresses META information– identify Users in your Gmail through their email address, and add them to your Friend list, your and their app settings permitting; 
– store cryptographic hash values of the email addresses who are not DearReal Users, so we can quickly update your Friends. If those contacts sign-up to DearReal at a later date, your and their app settings permitting; 
– remove contacts from your Friends list if one of them no longer has an account.
– at your request, block Users’ emails to prevent them from contacting you on DearReal;- build Users’ networks and recommendations.
Our Service requires this personal data.

We do not advertise on the app.

We have a record retention process in place to ensure that your information is only stored whilst it is required for the relevant purposes or to meet our legal commitments.  When and where our Service no longer requires your information, we will dispose of it securely.

We want to ensure that your personal information is accurate and up to date.  You can access most of your information and update it from the Platform’s settings.  You have the right to request a copy of the information we retain and process about you.  You may also ask us to correct or remove information you think is inaccurate.

The right to be forgotten (data deletion): users may close or remove their active account from our platform.  In this instance, we will remove all personal information from our Platform, except data required for regulatory or audit purposes. This generally does not include Personally Identifiable Information or Personal Sensitive Information.
